Practicing #wiseConsent Is A 365-Day Exercise

Today marks the beginning of 16 Days of Activism 2019, a South African government initiative to engage the subject of violence against women and children.

Where The Wise Collective is concerned, all 365 days of the year must be geared towards ending the scourge of gender-based violence. If individuals respected the concept of consent, the widespread prevalence of GBV and femicide would be less devastating. It is for this reason that The Wise Collective has debuted the second video of the #wiseConsent campaign.

The first half kicked off on August 2019. The second half continues the exercise of defining consent and encouraging individuals to practise respecting it.

"The rate of rape incidents show how massively misunderstood consent is in South Africa; educating everyone about consent needs to go beyond 16 days. Therefore we see this as the beginning of a 365-day effort to teach the public and change our norms around consent."
